AMiT, spol. s r.o. Transportation group has presented a new generation of Wifi routers – the WRAXD series – to professional public at this year’s Rail Business Days trade fair in Brno.
This 5G router is designed for rolling stock and meets requirements of all relevant railway standards such as EN 50155 and EN 45545.

The router offers direct internet connectivity via high-speed 5G mobile networks and also features WiFi connectivity WiFi6 – the 802.11ax standard. For mobile networks connection, the router is equipped with three modems, each of which can utilize up to four SIM cards. In addition to wireless communication, the router also includes four LAN ports (4x 1 Gbps). Like other AMiT communication devices, there is a possibility of creating a circular network topology for the LAN ports. Furthermore, the router includes a GPS/Glonass module.

Like previous models, the router can also be connected to the Internet via bonding. Bonding server technology increases both availability and quality of Internet connection for passengers and has been one of the most widely used solutions in our product portfolio for a long time. The router can also be connected to AMiT ALAS monitoring and diagnostics server, which provides higher volume of data on router operation while presenting the data in clearer manner. At the same time, vehicle telemetry data can be transmitted via the router to a control room. Another advantage is a possibility of central management and automatic firmware upgrade of the routers without need for on-board intervention. The ALAS system can be implemented in already operating servers or run on a cloud platform as a service.

“I firmly believe that our new routers based on 5G and WiFi6 technologies, together with bonding and interconnection with our servers, will bring more comfort to passengers travelling onboard trains and trams around the World.”
Jan Hendrych, Marketing Director, AMiT, spol. s r.o.

Our new 5G routers have been already ordered by Siemens Mobility for the new non-traction units ComfortJet from the Viaggio Comfort family, of which the Czech national carrier ČD has ordered 20 in 2021. At this year’s fair, there was unprecedented interest in these routers among other carriers , integrators as well as vehicle manufacturers from several European countries
